Welcome Shelby!
Shelby Perry has joined Northeast Wilderness Trust’s staff as Conservation Assistant. Most recently, Shelby received her master’s degree from the University of Vermont’s field naturalist program. A Vermont native, she has also lived and worked in California, the Caribbean, and Wyoming, as well as West Africa, where she served a term in the Peace Corps. In Wyoming’s Red Desert, she worked for the Biodiversity Conservation Alliance, where she was a wilderness inventory specialist.
Shelby will be coordinating the stewardship of NWT’s nearly 25,000 protected acres, and helping with new conservation projects. She’s looking forward to her time in the field and she’s excited to once again be working for forever-wild conservation.
“I love all wild places,” Shelby says, “but I have an especially deep love for the temperate forests of Vermont, and the Red Desert in Wyoming—and it’s no coincidence that these are also the two least populated states in the country!” Shelby is eager to learn much as she can about anything and everything nature-related, and enjoys wandering aimlessly in the woods with her camera and her dog Mia.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Shelby!

Welcome, Shelby. Happy to walk the Metcalf property here in Sandwich when we can schedule it. Suggest waiting until after the black flies depart. 🙂 All the best…
Thanks Bob! I look forward to meeting you! I’ll be in touch soon 🙂
You’re a rising star and the future of conservation, Shelby. Wishing you a life of hard work, great fun, endless exploration and all the success these things bring. Long live Wilderness!
Miss you, kiddo. Mia too!
Duane
Thanks Duane! We miss you too!
