Howdy Ira!

Over the last few months Ira Shadis has spent time each week volunteering with the Northeast Wilderness Trust. He is currently undertaking a term of service as an AmeriCorps member with The Vermont Housing & Conservation Board and as part of his position he was tasked with finding a way to broaden his impact outside of the VHCB AmeriCorps program. He was happy to find the folks at NWT willing to help him make this happen.

As he volunteers his time from now through August Ira will be involved in a few different projects. Currently he is supporting efforts to raise awareness about NWT properties that have public access by getting information about them online. As things warm up he will also be able to  bring his past trail construction experience to bare as he works on the recreation plan for the new Binney Hill property.

Ira is a native of Central Vermont and, after having traveled all over the western reaches of the country, is happy to be back in his hometown. He can often be found skiing out on the back forty of his family property in Marshfield or, when the snow is gone, hiking the trails and biking the roads wherever they might lead him.
