Naturalist’s Hike in The Split Rock Wildway

Come join expert naturalists Sheri Amsel, Brett Engrstrom, and (our very own) Shelby Perry at 9:30 am on Sunday, October 1st on the Coon Mountain Trail in Westport New York for an exciting 2 mile round trip hike.

Click on this link for directions from downtown Westport.

Learn about the natural communities along the trail as you pepper our naturalists with questions. Or sit back and enjoy the hike as our naturalists point out interesting plants, animals, and slime molds. As we take a breather on the summit we will be able to see the the land that connects Lake Champlain and the Jay Mountain Wilderness first hand. The Coon Mountain Trail is situated just two miles from the Split Rock Wild Forest and sits right in the Split Rock Wildway corridor.

This hike is family friendly and we encourage you to bring anyone who might be interested. This is an opportunity to learn and you don’t need to be an expert to attend. Please leave pets at home.
