Untrammeled: The Case for Wild Nature in a Changing World

Join the board and staff of Northeast Wilderness Trust for an engaging evening focused on wilderness and take the opportunity to meet NWT’s new executive director, Jon Leibowitz.

NWT board members Tom Butler and Mark Anderson will make a lively presentation addressing the science and spirit of forever-wild conservation with a question and answer session to follow.  See speakers bios below.

About the Speakers:

Tom Butler is Vice President of Conservation Advocacy at the Foundation for Deep Ecology. He is a longtime conservation activist and writer who has concentrated primarily on wilderness and biodiversity. He is the former longtime editor of Wild Earth journal. His books include Wildlands Philanthropy, Plundering Appalachia, Keeping the Wild: Against the Domestication of Earth, and ENERGY: Overdevelopment and the Delusion of Endless Growth. Tom was a founding board member, former president, and is a current member of the board of directors of Northeast Wilderness Trust.

Mark Anderson is Director of Conservation Science for The Nature Conservancy’s eastern U.S. region. Mark provides science leadership, ecological analysis, and landscape assessment tools for conservation efforts across eighteen states. His current research interests include ecological resilience, disturbance processes, geophysical landscape properties, and seafloor mapping. Mark joined the board of directors of Northeast Wilderness Trust in 2016.
