The Cape Shore Foundation has generously offered to donate all of the proceeds from its up-coming 5-K run/walk to the Northeast Wilderness Trust. Awards will be given to the top 3 overall men & women and top 2 men and women in 10-year age groups. Monadnock area residents and visitors joined NWT, the Harris Center, and the Temple and New Ipswich Conservation Commissions for a four mile hike through the Wapack Wilderness at the peak of leaf-peeping season.

Rediscovering Chesire Place: The Cultural History of the Wapack Wilderness

Dickerman & guests @ cultural tour.jpgIn June 2007, NWT cosponsored a cultural history tour of the Wapack Wilderness. This unique property is the former site of Cheshire Place, a 19th century "model gentleman's farm" founded by an eccentric textile tycoon.

Participants enjoyed a tour highlighting local domestic and industrial activity in the late 1800's and a guided walk of the magnificent surrounding forest.

Following the October 2006 Annual Meeting, NWT staff and board enjoy a walk on the Anderson property, protected by the Trust in 2003.

Dave Foreman's Presentation at Brandeis University, Earth Day 2006. In April 2006, NWT co-hosted a presentation by Dave Foreman on North American Wilderness Recovery at Brandeis University.
