Vickie Bunnell Preserve

Columbia and Stratford, NH
Forever-Wild Easement; Completed Project

Acquired by The Nature Conservancy in 2001, the Vickie Bunnell Preserve—at 10,330 acres—is its largest nature preserve in New Hampshire. As of September 2013, Northeast Wilderness Trust holds the forever-wild easement on this big and beautiful protected area.

The Vickie Bunnell Preserve contains many ponds and bogs and protects high-elevation spruce-fir forest habitat, including 3,723-foot Bunnell Mountain and 12 other peaks above 3,000 feet. The preserve welcomes public recreation and is a spectacular place to explore, bird watch, cross-country ski, or hike.

Northeast Wilderness Trust is proud to be the new steward of the Bunnell Preserve. Through annual monitoring and enforcement of the forever-wild easement, the Trust will fulfill its obligation to ensure that this special place remains a wild landscape into the future.
